Data Sources

ExpansionSignal compiles project information from publicly available records, including:

• Public construction and building permits
• Municipal planning commission agendas, minutes, and staff reports
• Zoning hearing applications and decisions
• Public commercial development announcements
• Public property records

How records are verified

Every published project must reference at least one documented source and carry a last-verified date. Unknown information stays marked as unknown, and estimates are labeled as estimates. Records that have not been re-verified recently are flagged.

HVAC relevance

Relevance scores are based on building type, project type, stage, size, and whether the source mentions HVAC, ventilation, or refrigeration. Each project shows whether relevance is documented in the source or inferred.

Satellite and aerial imagery

Imagery analysis is planned for a future release and is not currently used.
